Sony Ericsson has made the plunge into creating Google Android smartphones, and has come out with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. It is of a similar size to most Android phones of its caliber, and packs in a powerful 1Ghz Snapdragon, making it easier than ever to flip between the functions of your phone without any waiting time. The media features are wide ranging and easy to use, which is considered essential these days, as people use their phones for much more than simply making and receiving calls.

The interface that Sony Ericsson implemented on the Xperia X10 strives to create a user friendly platform that makes using the device effortless and entertaining. Titled UX (abbreviated for User Experience), the interface organizes media and social networking information together so that the user can readily access this information with minimal effort. A single entry on the user's contact list can pull up not only that person's basic contact information, but an array of other information related to that contact, including social networking updates (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), text messaging history, tagged photos, etc.

The touchscreen is also quite impressive, measuring in at 4" with a resolution of 480 x 654 pixels. The scratch resistant surface of the touchscreen is an innovative feature no other smartphone has introduced yet, and vastly improves the life and durability of your smartphone. If you like taking pictures, you will be impressed with the 8.1 megapixel camera featured in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. The pictures are of such a high quality that you will be proud to upload them to any social networking site, or even print them off and frame them.

An MP3 player and video recorder are two of the other impressive functions of Sony Ericsson's new smartphone. It will support WMA, WAV, MP3, eAAC+ files, and many more. It comes equipped with a fully functioning web browser with integrated social networking functions for Twitter and Facebook. The connection options are standard, as with other Android devices, and include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS, and 3G HSDPA. The Xperia X10 comes with an internal memory of 1GB and 8GB of external memory for the micro SD slot, although users may purchase up to 16 GB of additional external memory.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is a great way to introduce yourself to the smartphone market, or even just to upgrade your existing phone. It is certainly one of the phones of 2010.
